“We might all be in the same storm, but we are not in the same boat”
So here we are — almost at the end of what’s been perhaps the strangest year of our lives.
We’ve come through it, and we’ve found new ways to shine. But we’re keenly aware that not every business has been so fortunate.
As the Covid crisis has evolved, it’s been tragic to see so many thriving industry sectors face collapse. Within them, so many incredible, successful, people and businesses, whom through no fault of their own, have ceased to be able to operate.
We are an independent business and acutely feel for the plight of all those affected. Like many of you, we consider with sadness the effects on the fabric of our cities, working districts and culture. What will they look like when we return? Will our favourite coffee shop/art gallery/restaurant, still be there? What does it mean for all the people who are part of our broader working community?
This Christmas and next, we are going to show our support by championing charities that give back to workers in the hospitality and creative arts industries. Over the years, these businesses have made all our lives much brighter. In 2020, as many of their lights have been dimmed or extinguished entirely, we’ve gained a renewed appreciation for the vital role they’ve always played in our lives.
We have decided to start by helping hospitality workers stay on their feet during this festive period and are supporting The Tipjar Emergency Fund here in our hometown of London and The Chicago Restaurant Workers Relief Fund in our much loved Chicago.
We’d like to wish you and yours a happy, healthy Christmas, and a 2021 full of opportunity.
Thank you for being part of our community.
