Crohn’s Colitis UK

Their mission

Crohn’s and Colitis UK is a charitable organisation set up to support and advise those who have been diagnosed with either of the conditions. They want to see improved lives today, and a world free from Crohn’s and Colitis tomorrow.

How they help

The organisation offers a treasure trove of information and support about Crohn’s and Colitis as well as driving research and knowledge through donations, membership, sponsorship and voluntary help. They break taboos, they drive pioneering research, they bring people together, they campaign to improve lives and they are leading the fight against Crohn’s and Colitis.

GOSH

Their mission Every day, around 750 seriously ill children are treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Patients, families and staff face complex conditions, while leading experts drive breakthroughs that change lives worldwide. Despite these challenges, it remains a place of courage, hope, and resilience. How they help GOSH Charity raises vital funds to support life-changing care, research, and new treatments. Their impact extends beyond the hospital, benefiting seriously ill children globally through world-class research with UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

Trussell Trust

“Working to stop UK hunger and poverty. Our network of food banks provides emergency food and support to people in crisis.”

Their mission

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of food banks and provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

How they help

Over 14 million people in the UK, including 4.5 million children, live in poverty. They support 1,200+ food banks, providing at least three days of emergency food and crisis support. Between 2022 and 2023, nearly 3 million food parcels were distributed, a 37% increase, with 2024 expected to rise further.

Demelza

“Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides care and support for seriously ill children, young people and their families.”

Their mission

Demelza supports children with serious or terminal conditions to live as fully as possible, helping families create meaningful moments together. Since 1998, they’ve continued this care through the support of donors.

How they help

They provide specialist hospice and home care across South East London, Kent, and East Sussex. Through tailored support from nurses, therapists, and volunteers, they help families cope and spend quality time together.

Alzheimer’s Research UK

Their mission

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure.

Backed by passionate scientists and supporters, they’re challenging the way people think about dementia, uniting the big thinkers in the field and funding the innovative science that will deliver a cure.

Their mission is to bring about the first life changing dementia treatment by 2025.

How they help

UNICEF

Their mission

UNICEF provides more children with clean water, life-saving therapeutic food and vaccines, education and protection from violence than any other humanitarian organisation. 

UNICEF works with families, local communities, organisations and governments in more than 190 countries to help every child realise their full potential. In everything they do, the most vulnerable children and those in greatest need have priority.

How they help

UNICEF protects children’s rights worldwide, working in the toughest places to reach the most vulnerable. They save lives through vaccines, clean water and nutrition, protect children from harm, and support education to help every child reach their potential.

Blue Marine Foundation

“Aims to restore the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world’s biggest environmental problems.”

Their mission To ensure the effective protection of at least 30 per cent of the ocean by 2030 and the sustainable management of the whole ocean. How they help Blue Marine Foundation funds and implements marine conservation projects, including creating marine protected areas, restoring habitats, and promoting sustainable fishing practices. It also works with governments, communities, and industry to influence policy and drive long-term protection of ocean ecosystems.

Create delivers inspiring arts programmes to the UK’s most marginalised communities, focusing on areas with limited access to the arts. They prioritise underserved groups using data on poverty, disability, and educational disadvantage to reach those most in need.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Their mission

How they help

They give people with cancer everything they’ve got. They offer emotional, physical and financial support from the moment of diagnosis. Whether it’s help paying bills, advice on benefits or treatment, or just to chat.
